Why Surface-Level Transformation Isn’t Enough: Creating Real Change with Your Offer

You cannot be a change maker if you do not understand how to genuinely create change.


I’ve spent an entire career studying change and leading large multi million pound transformation programmes. That's what management consultants do - we advise and lead on change programmes, so I know what I am talking about.


Change is THE most difficult thing to achieve and yet that fact is overlooked every day. People seem to think change is easy. 


But it's not, it is actually very very hard.


And this is relevant to you because you have an offer which you think is amazing, but it really isn’t because it doesn’t produce the level of change that you think it does. It is only producing surface level transformation for Your Person. 


In fact, that's what most offers and most services do, which is why we are all swimming in this sea of sameness. Everyone sounds like everybody else.


There are many theories of change (in fact this is a good google rabbit hole to fall down) and you need to find one that resonates for your particular offer.


One of the reasons I studied hypnosis was because I wanted to get my leadership clients deeper and longer lasting results. Hypnosis is only one change mechanism.


One that I’ve used most often in my 16 years of corporate consulting is a proprietary model of behavioural change. This is a simplified version.

  1. Identify the change - the new behaviour that you want people to adopt

  2. Introduce metrics to measure the new behaviour 

  3. Introduce reinforcing mechanisms (both positive and negative) - e.g. rewards and consequences.


When it comes to your offer, you will need to have a change mechanism in place so that you produce transformations that go deeper than your “step by step” process. People know what to do, but they still don’t do it and if you can solve that, you will have clients that talk about you with their friends.
